Renata has 18 years of experience co-leading educational and nonprofit organizations that work to advance equity for low income, immigrant, LGBTQ, and Latinx communities. Prior to launching her own Social Impact Consulting practice in 2018, she served as Executive Director for the premier LGBTQ family advocacy organization in California, Our Family Coalition. She has worked as a Policy and Communications Director leading various non-profits’ intersectional anti-bias initiatives prior to taking on Executive roles and is proud to have served on the Advisory Board of the California Immigrant Policy Institute, the SF Human Rights Commission LGBTQ Advisory Committee, and the state-wide Breakthrough Coalition with the goal of repealing DOMA and Prop 8. Prior to relocating to CA in 2012, Renata led public education campaigns on sexual assault/domestic violence prevention, and a wide-range of social and economic justice issues. She continues to offer strategic planning consulting services to public and private organizations that are committed to advancing equity for LGBTQ people, immigrants, and people of color. She is a skilled mediator and passionate proponent of heart-centered leadership. She holds a cum laude B.A in Political Science, an M.A. in Counseling, and one M.A. in Gender Studies from the City University of New York. She is a Clinical Hypnotherapist, ordained interfaith minister and was a ChangeMaker Fellow earning a Certificate of Spirituality and Social Change from the Pacific School of Religion. Renata was born and raised in Brasilia, Brazil and currently lives with her beloved 5 year old in occupied Ohlone land in these parts of the world we call East Oakland.
