KATHLEEN HARRIS, MA

As executive director at SEEDS OF AWARENESS, Kathleen joins a great team of psychologists, family and marriage therapists, counselors and trainers who provide therapeutic and educational services throughout the Bay Area. Children, youth, and their families depend on SEEDS’ mindfulness approach to help them prepare for and navigate life’s challenges. SEEDS’ unyielding focus on social justice and equity makes this the ideal nonprofit community for Kathleen.

Throughout her career Kathleen has focused on eliminating inequities in schools and other public systems. As a long-time advocate for educational equity, she has successfully lobbied for increases in school funding, new teacher certification models, and expanded education options for poor families. Kathleen led a nationally recognized training model for aspiring teachers and served as program director at the Marin Community Foundation where she led its strategic initiatives for affordable housing and ending the cycle of poverty. Before joining SEEDS, Kathleen was the Executive Director of the Redwood City Education Foundation.

Kathleen remains active in philanthropy serving on the boards of the West Contra Costa Public Education Fund, the Alameda County Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership and Camp Phoenix.

To recharge, Kathleen enjoys Kettlebell Sport and trains to earn a spot on the national team.

Kathleen earned her BA from San Francisco State University and MA in Education Administration & Supervision from National-Louis University.
