Seeds of Awareness promotes emotional intelligence and wellbeing through our mindfulness-based, therapeutic, and nature-based programs.
We implement counseling and mentorship programs in schools, teach social emotional learning in the classrooms, and provide cutting edge mindfulness-based counseling and nature-based social skills groups to our local communities
FAMILY COUNSELING SERVICES
School and community-based psychotherapy is an effective intervention to combat the mental health challenges our communities are facing. At Seeds, we train and support our counselors to provide effective and loving care.
Mindfulness Based Social-Emotional Learning
Studies show MBSEL programs have positive impact on executive functioning, decreasing anxiety, improving focus, and enhancing overall wellbeing. Our programs create a culture of kindness and care at our schools.
Fiddleheads nature groups and summer camps combine evidence supported interventions – time in nature, social-emotional learning, and caring mentorship – to support children’s empathy skills and wellbeing.
Continuing Education and Parent Support
When young children experience nurturing relationships, they develop self-awareness, self regulation, social competence, and emotional stability. Seeds of Awareness support teachers and parents to develop caring classrooms and nurturing relationships.
Our vision is a future where emotional intelligence is the norm, where empathy and mindfulness are embedded in our education systems, and where therapeutic support is accessible and commonplace.

Seeds of Awareness Students
Andres Perez* is a 15 year-old student and immigrant refugee at Oakland International High (OIHS) facing deportation. Andres suffers from PTSD and trauma related to living in war torn El Salvador. Our counselor works with Andres twice a week, providing him intensive therapeutic support, and helps him to overcome his most severe PTSD reactions, as well as advocating for his citizenship.
Jennifer Wright* has never really had a friend. Jennifer is a 11 year-old autistic girl and was suffering immensely with social isolation, anxiety, and depression for 6 long years. Jennifer counts the hours to her Fiddleheads friendship group. You should see the glowing smile light up on her face as she explores nature with her new best friends. Jennifer could continue enjoying her time at Fiddleheads this summer with the help of a scholarship you provide for her family today.
* Names have been changed to protect the identities of the children described.
